What works in Hungary

The best promotional products for the Hungarian market

Hungary rewards merchandise that people keep and use. Between HUNGEXPO trade fairs, a fast growing automotive and industrial base around Győr, Kecskemét and Debrecen, and a busy conference calendar, the winners are practical, well branded and built to last. Here is where to start, grouped by the job you need the merchandise to do.

Branded apparel and workwear

Kit out a stand team, a factory floor or a whole company in clothing that looks sharp and survives daily wear. Apparel carries a logo further than almost anything else, from polos and softshells for HUNGEXPO to durable pieces for the industrial west.

Conference and delegate bags

The bag is the one giveaway that leaves the venue and keeps working for months. Tote bags fill a delegate pack cheaply, while backpacks and laptop bags make a real premium gift for speakers, partners and priority clients.

Reusable drinkware

Reusable bottles and cups are the everyday hero of Hungarian campaigns: high perceived value, constant reuse and a clear sustainability story. They sit as well on a conference table as on an employee desk.

Technology and desk gadgets

In a market built on engineering and innovation, branded tech punches above its weight. Power banks, cables and USB drives are the giveaways prospects actually pocket and reuse long after the event is over.

Trade fair and event essentials

Every HUNGEXPO stand needs the basics done well. Lanyards and badges keep a team and its visitors organised, and event accessories turn a plain stand into a branded space people remember.

Notebooks, pens and office

Conferences, onboarding and everyday desks all run on good stationery. A quality notebook and pen set is the classic delegate gift, and branded office pieces keep your name in front of a client every working day.

Sustainable ranges and premium gifts

Two ends of the same table. Eco and recycled ranges are now the default for many European campaigns, while a premium or executive gift is what you reserve for the client, speaker or partner who matters most.

Not sure where to start? Browse our European bestsellers or explore the full range, and we will build a shortlist around your brief, quantity and budget.

Why Hungary is worth a closer look

One of Europe's busiest destinations for new investment

Hungary sits in the middle of Central Europe, inside the EU single market and on the main corridors that connect the continent. Over the past decade it has become one of the region's biggest magnets for foreign investment, and the cities above are where that money, and the events and hiring around it, actually land.

Why invest in Hungary

The headline is momentum. Wave after wave of investment has gone into automotive, electric-vehicle batteries and electronics, with global manufacturers building some of their largest European plants here, on a skilled, engineering-strong workforce and costs that stay competitive against Western Europe.

Location does the rest: from the belt near Vienna to the fast-rising east around Debrecen, the country is a logistics hinge with no customs friction across the EU.

For Hungarian businesses, start-up to established name

If your company is based here, this is written for you too. A Budapest start-up ordering its first branded merchandise, a Debrecen supplier fitting out a trade-fair stand, or an established firm planning corporate gifts: we take the promotional products off your plate, with no warehouse and no minimum you cannot meet.

Brief us once for promotional products, corporate gifts and branded merchandise on one clean invoice, with the same account covering your events anywhere in Europe.

Frequently asked questions

Ordering and delivering promotional merchandise in Hungary

How we produce and deliver branded promotional products anywhere in Hungary, from Budapest to the regional business centres and every HUNGEXPO stand.

Do you deliver promotional products and branded merchandise across Hungary?

Yes, we deliver branded promotional merchandise and custom printed products anywhere in Hungary, using tracked couriers from Budapest to Debrecen, Szeged, Győr and every regional city.

Because we work through a broad European supplier network rather than a single warehouse, your order ships from the most suitable production site and arrives ready for your campaign or event. We regularly deliver to offices, retail sites, hotels, conference venues and exhibition stands.

  • Budapest and Pest county, including HUNGEXPO exhibition stands
  • Debrecen, Szeged and Miskolc across the eastern regions
  • Győr, Székesfehérvár and Kecskemét in the manufacturing belt
  • Pécs and the south, plus hotels and venues nationwide

We can also split a single order across several delivery addresses on one quote, which suits national rollouts, and every shipment is tracked from dispatch to arrival.

Can you deliver branded merchandise to a HUNGEXPO stand, hotel or event in Budapest?

Yes. Delivering promotional merchandise straight to exhibition stands, hotels and event venues is one of the most common jobs we handle in Hungary, including every hall at HUNGEXPO Budapest.

Deliveries to venues need a little more planning than deliveries to an office, because most venues only accept goods within a set window and require a named contact on site. When you order, we will ask for the details that keep the delivery safe.

  • The full venue address, with hall and stand number where relevant
  • A named person who will be on site to receive the goods
  • A local mobile phone number with the international dialling code
  • The exact dates the venue will accept deliveries

For trade fairs we plan production so your merchandise arrives a few days before the doors open, never on the morning of the event. Express delivery cannot be added once an order has been dispatched, so if your timeline is tight, tell us early.

How long does promotional merchandise take to produce and deliver in Hungary?

Most custom promotional products are produced and delivered within about seven to fourteen working days from artwork approval, depending on the product, the branding method and the destination.

The single biggest factor is artwork approval, because production only begins once you approve the digital proof in writing. Bespoke or custom made items take longer, typically four weeks or more, as they are manufactured to order.

  • Standard catalogue items: around 7 to 14 working days after artwork approval
  • Bespoke or custom made items: four weeks or more
  • Peak periods before major fairs and the end of year season
  • Deliveries to islands, remote areas or venues with fixed windows

For any order tied to a fixed date, such as a trade show or a product launch, we recommend starting four to six weeks ahead where possible. That gives comfortable time for quoting, artwork, proofing, production and delivery.

Frequently asked questions

VAT, invoicing and compliance in Hungary

How VAT works on promotional merchandise delivered in Hungary, and how international companies order branded products without a local entity.

How does VAT work on promotional merchandise delivered in Hungary?

The VAT treatment depends on where the goods are delivered and whether you are a business with a valid EU VAT number, not simply on where your company is based. Hungary applies the standard VAT rate of 27 percent, the highest in the European Union.

As a rule of thumb, goods delivered to an address inside Hungary or the wider European Union fall under EU VAT rules. For many business to business orders shipped across an EU border to a VAT registered company, the reverse charge mechanism applies, so we do not add VAT and you account for it in your own return.

  • Delivery within Hungary to a Hungarian business: Hungarian VAT applies
  • Cross border EU delivery to a VAT registered business: reverse charge may apply
  • Business to consumer sales: VAT at the destination rate via the One Stop Shop
  • Genuine export delivered outside the EU: usually zero rated

A common and costly mistake is to assume that a company outside the EU automatically means zero VAT. That is not true when the goods are delivered inside the EU. We confirm the exact treatment on every quote. This is general information, not tax advice.

Do I need a Hungarian company or VAT number to order promotional products?

No. You do not need a Hungarian company, a local address or a Hungarian VAT number to order promotional merchandise for delivery in Hungary.

We are a European registered distributor, so we handle the European side of the transaction for you, including sourcing, production, EU VAT treatment and delivery. You place one order, receive one invoice and deal with one point of contact.

  • A Hungarian company running a local campaign or exhibiting at HUNGEXPO
  • A company elsewhere in the EU shipping into Hungary
  • A United Kingdom business running a European activation
  • A United States or Canadian brand supporting a Hungarian event or office

If you are a VAT registered business in the EU, having your valid VAT number ready helps us apply the correct treatment quickly. If you are outside the EU, we will guide you on any customs details, but in most cases the process is simply approving a quote and the artwork.

Can international companies order branded merchandise for a campaign in Hungary?

Yes. International companies order promotional merchandise for Hungary exactly as local ones do: you brief us, we quote in euros, you approve the quote and the artwork, and we produce and deliver into Hungary.

Because we hold no stock of our own and work through a European supplier network, we can serve a Hungarian campaign just as easily from New York or London as from Budapest. Where an international shipment is involved, we handle the customs paperwork and advise on the terms.

  • One quote and one invoice in euros, with a clear VAT treatment
  • Production from within Europe, close to the point of delivery
  • Customs documentation and delivery terms handled for you
  • A single English speaking contact managing the whole order

This is what lets brands run consistent merchandise across several European markets at once. You keep one supplier relationship, one set of artwork standards and one invoicing process, while we handle the local production and delivery in each country, including Hungary.

Frequently asked questions

Promotional products, branding and printing

The most popular promotional products and corporate gifts for the Hungarian market, the branding and print methods we offer, and the artwork we need from you.

What are the best promotional products and corporate gifts for the Hungarian market?

The best promotional products for Hungary are practical, good quality items your audience will keep and use, such as branded apparel, bags, reusable drinkware, tech accessories and quality pens. For HUNGEXPO trade fairs and corporate campaigns, useful items consistently outperform cheap novelties.

Across HUNGEXPO exhibitions and business campaigns, a few categories do the heavy lifting because they combine a large, clear branding area with genuine everyday use.

  • Branded apparel: T shirts, polos, softshell jackets and caps for stand teams
  • Bags and travel: tote bags, backpacks, delegate bags and laptop sleeves
  • Drinkware: reusable bottles, travel mugs and coffee cups
  • Technology: power banks, cables, USB drives and desk accessories
  • Event essentials: lanyards, badges, notebooks and quality pens

For exhibitions we usually suggest a tiered mix: a low cost giveaway for footfall, a mid range item for genuine prospects, and a premium gift for key clients. We are happy to build a shortlist around your brief, quantity and budget.

What branding and printing methods do you offer, and what artwork do you need?

We offer every professional branding method, including screen printing, embroidery, pad printing, full colour digital print and laser engraving, and we match the method to the product, the design and the quantity.

Different products and finishes suit different techniques, and the main methods we use cover almost every promotional product and budget.

  • Screen printing for bold, cost effective logos on apparel and bags
  • Embroidery for a premium, durable finish on clothing and caps
  • Pad printing for small logos on pens, tech and hard surfaces
  • Full colour digital print and transfers for detailed, multi colour designs
  • Laser engraving for a refined, permanent mark on metal and wood

For the cleanest result we ask for vector artwork, usually an EPS, AI, PDF or SVG file, with any Pantone colours specified. If you only have a logo as a JPG or PNG, we can convert it to a production ready vector, and we always send a digital proof for your written approval before anything is printed.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom promotional products?

Minimum order quantities depend on the product and the branding method rather than a single fixed number: small items such as printed pens or stickers often start in the hundreds, while apparel, bags and technology usually start lower.

We will always tell you the minimum for the specific product you want, and where a minimum does not suit you, we can usually suggest a similar item with a lower entry point. Larger quantities bring the unit price down.

  • Small items such as pens and stickers: often from a few hundred units
  • Apparel, bags and drinkware: usually from lower quantities
  • Unit prices fall as quantities rise, at set price breaks
  • Samples and pre production proofs available on request

For larger or first time orders we can arrange product samples so you can check quality before you commit, and we always provide a digital artwork proof before production. On bespoke items we can discuss a physical pre production sample where the timeline allows.

Frequently asked questions

Sustainable merchandise, languages and getting a quote

Eco friendly promotional products, the languages we work in, and how to get a free quote for your Hungarian campaign.

Do you offer sustainable and eco friendly promotional products?

Yes. Sustainable promotional merchandise is one of the fastest growing parts of our range, from recycled bottles and bags to organic cotton apparel, bamboo tech and FSC certified paper, and for many Hungarian and European campaigns it is now the default rather than the exception.

We can source certified and responsibly made alternatives across most product categories, so you rarely have to compromise between sustainability and impact.

  • Recycled materials, including bottles and bags made from recycled plastic
  • Organic cotton apparel and tote bags
  • Bamboo, cork and other natural materials for tech and stationery
  • Reusable drinkware that replaces single use items
  • FSC certified paper for notebooks and printed pieces

If sustainability is a priority, tell us at the briefing stage and we will build your shortlist around responsible options, including any certifications you need to see. We can also advise on reducing packaging and on products that genuinely last.

What languages do you work in, and how do you support Hungarian and international clients?

We work primarily in English, which makes us a straightforward partner for international brands, and we run Hungarian campaigns from the first brief to final delivery through one named account contact.

Because we serve clients across Europe and beyond, we are comfortable working across languages and time zones, and we prepare artwork and delivery details to suit the Hungarian market.

  • English speaking account management from quote to delivery
  • Artwork prepared for Hungarian language campaigns where needed
  • Clear, written quotes, proofs and order confirmations
  • One point of contact for multi country European rollouts

Whether you are a Hungarian company, a European business or a brand from further afield, you deal with one team that understands both the local delivery reality and the wider European picture. That combination is what keeps your project simple.

How do I get a quote for promotional merchandise in Hungary?

Getting a quote is quick and free: send us your brief through the enquiry form on this page and we will reply with a clear, itemised quote in euros covering the products, branding, quantities and delivery.

You do not need everything finalised to get started, because even a rough brief is enough for a first quote, but a few details help us move quickly.

  • The products you are interested in, or the goal you want to achieve
  • Approximate quantities and your target budget
  • Your logo or artwork, and any brand colours
  • The delivery destination in Hungary and the date you need it by

Once you approve the quote and the artwork, we handle production and delivery and keep you updated with tracking. If you are working to a trade show or launch date, tell us early so we can plan the schedule around it.

A lonely language, hot springs and quiet genius

A little over eleven centuries ago, a people rode in from the eastern steppe and settled on a great plain in the middle of Europe, speaking a language related to almost nothing around them. They are still there, still speaking it. Landlocked, they float on an underground sea of hot water; poor in numbers, they have handed the world an outrageous share of its scientists, along with the ballpoint pen and its best-loved puzzle. This is a country of wide grasslands, spa towns and vineyards far more than of any one city. Here is a short, hands-on tour.

The loneliest language in Europe

Hungarian, or Magyar, is surrounded by German, Slavic and Romance languages and is related to none of them. It belongs instead to the far-off Uralic family, a distant cousin of Finnish and Estonian. It builds words by gluing endings onto a root, one after another, so a single Hungarian word can carry what English needs a whole phrase to say. Watch one grow.

ház
house
A simple root: one small word.
házam
my house
Bolt on an ending for “my”, and the word simply swallows it. No separate word needed.
házaim
my houses
Now make it plural. Still one word, growing from the inside out.
házaimban
in my houses
Add a case ending for “in”. English needs three words here. Hungarian needs exactly one.
megszentségteleníthetetlenségeskedéseitekért
roughly: “for your continued behaviour as though you could not be desecrated”
Taken to the extreme, this 44-letter word is often cited as the longest in Hungarian. One word carrying a whole English clause.

The puzzle a Hungarian gave the world

In 1974 a Budapest professor of architecture named Ernő Rubik built a little cube to help his students grasp three-dimensional space. He called it the Magic Cube, and it took even him more than a month to solve. Renamed the Rubik’s Cube, it became the best-selling toy in history, around 450 million of them. Here is a real one, unfolded flat so you can see all six faces at once. Turn a face and watch the neighbouring rows shift with it, just like the real thing.

A solved cube: every face a single colour. Pick a face to turn, or scramble it.
Turn a face

Quiet genius

For a nation of around ten million, Hungary has shaped the modern world to an almost absurd degree. Tap one.

The land the Magyars claimed

Beyond the capital lies the real sweep of Hungary: plain, lake, vineyard and hot spring. Tap one.

Paprika and the table

Hungarian food is rich, warming and unafraid of spice, built around one glowing red powder. Flip a card.

The folk soul

Beneath the modern surface, Hungary keeps a vivid, living folk culture. Flip a card.

Very Hungarian things

A last handful of things that could only be Hungary. Flip a card.

This is the place we ship to. Swish & Click sources and delivers promotional merchandise across Hungary and the rest of Europe.
