    Feels like uses the 2001 wind chill formula of Environment Canada and the US National Weather Service, which the UK Met Office also uses. It applies at 10 °C or below with wind above 4.8 km/h. Our pick is a guide by padding weight, not a temperature rating.

    What do feels like and wind chill mean?

    It is how cold the air feels on bare skin once the wind is added. At -5 °C with a 30 km/h wind, it feels like about -13 °C. Weather services in Canada, the US and the UK use the same 2001 formula, which is why wind protection matters as much as padding.

    Which jacket should outdoor teams wear in winter?

    Think about how long people stand still and how windy it gets. A padded jacket suits short trips outside, a long hooded parka suits hours outdoors, and a padded vest keeps arms free for active work. For rain, look for taped or heat-sealed seams.

    What is EN 14058?

    EN 14058 is the European standard for garments that protect against cool environments, above -5 °C, tested for thermal resistance and air permeability. Below that, EN 342 covers clothing for colder conditions. EMIN is certified to EN 14058:2017.

    What do the three layers do?

    The base layer moves sweat away from the skin, the mid layer, often fleece, keeps the warmth in, and the outer layer shields you from wind and rain. The German Alpine Club calls it the onion principle: add or remove layers as the day changes.

    Softshell or padded jacket: which should we choose?

    A padded jacket traps warm air in its filling, the better choice for standing still. A softshell stretches, blocks most wind and breathes, so it suits people on the move; add a fleece underneath when it gets colder.

    What does a waterproof rating in mm mean?

    It is the hydrostatic head: the height of a water column, in millimetres, the fabric holds before water comes through, tested to EN ISO 811. As a retail rule of thumb, 5,000 mm handles showers, about 10,000 mm moderate rain and 20,000 mm heavy rain.

      Can padded jackets and softshells be branded?

      Yes. Embroidery, screen printing and digital transfer all work on jackets. Many styles have an access point in the lining, so the logo goes on cleanly. Softshells need care because inks can migrate, so we choose the method for each fabric.

      How quickly can we have winter jackets, and in what sizes?

      Most of our jackets have no minimum order and run from S to 3XL, several to 4XL, with kids' versions of some styles. They usually ship 7 to 14 working days after artwork approval, to all 33 European markets, so order before the first cold snap.
