    Cabin or hold?

Six things travellers pack. Where does each one go?

    1. Power bank, 20,000 mAh

Cabin only. Power banks are banned from checked bags: carry them in the cabin, at most two per person, and do not recharge them during the flight (ICAO rules updated in 2026).

    2. Sunscreen, 150 ml

Hold. Most EU airports still limit cabin liquids to 100 ml per container in a 1 litre bag. Some airports with new scanners allow more, so check yours.

    3. Pocket knife, 8 cm blade

Hold. EU security rules ban blades over 6 cm from the cabin, and airports can refuse shorter ones too.

    4. Inflatable travel pillow

Either. Pack it anywhere, although it is far more useful in the cabin.

    5. Digital luggage scale

Either. It is fine in both, with its small coin battery left in place.

    6. Shampoo, 100 ml

Either. In the cabin it goes in your clear 1 litre liquids bag; in the hold, anything goes.

Based on EU, ICAO and IATA rules as of 2026. Airlines and airports can be stricter, so check before you fly.
