From a successful first order to a growing merchandise relationship with MITA

How Swish & Click helped Malta’s national technology agency access a broader selection of branded merchandise, dependable service and quality-assured products, with a successful first project leading to further orders.

When the Malta Information Technology Agency set out to broaden its supplier pool for branded merchandise and promotional products, it was looking for reliability, consistent quality and the right balance of price and quality. Swish & Click answered with an extensive European product range, samples to assess before ordering, and prompt, informative communication. A first project of branded ceramic mugs for MITA employees proved a success, and further orders followed.

The ordering experience proved easy and highly efficient, and satisfaction with the first project led MITA to place further orders with Swish & Click.

SECTION 02 · THE CLIENT

Part 2 of 4

Who MITA are

Every case study should begin with the client. MITA’s national responsibilities shape the standards its suppliers are asked to meet, and they explain why the details of this story matter.

The client, properly introduced

Malta Information Technology Agency

Aġenzija Maltija għat-Teknoloġija tal-Informazzjoni

The Agency’s official name in Maltese, the national language of Malta.

A national role

MITA, the Malta Information Technology Agency, describes itself as the Government of Malta’s central ICT partner. The Agency is responsible for the ICT infrastructure, systems and services on which Government operates, and it contributes to the definition and execution of the country’s digital strategies.

That remit reaches beyond any single department. MITA supports Malta’s wider digital ecosystem and works to transform technological innovation into practical solutions, helping to deliver digital public services that are secure and effective. Much of the Agency’s work sits quietly behind services that residents and businesses in Malta rely on every day.

A note on scope: Swish & Click plays no part in MITA’s technology mandate. We supply branded merchandise. The Agency’s institutional role appears here for one reason: it explains the standards MITA brings to every supplier it works with.

The values MITA states publicly

Six values recur in how the Agency presents itself. Read from the supplier’s side of the table, each one becomes a standard to meet:

  • Professionalism

Prepared, accurate and accountable in every exchange.

  • Client focus

The brief as MITA states it, never as a supplier prefers it.

  • Empowerment

Give the client what it needs to decide with confidence.

  • People development

Merchandise made for the people who use it every day.

  • Collaboration

Prompt, open communication in both directions.

  • Continuous improvement

Every order a little better than the last.

Reliability, quality and careful choices are not add-ons to a culture like this. They are the culture, and that context frames everything that follows.

Why brand consistency matters here

An agency with MITA’s profile is judged on dependability in everything it does, including the small things. At a large national event or a small workshop, the items on the table speak in the Agency’s name, and a mug on an employee’s desk carries the same identity as a national digital service.

So branded merchandise is asked to meet the same tests as everything else MITA puts its name to: reliable supply, consistent quality from one order to the next, and a sensible balance between price and quality. Items that drift from the corporate identity, or that vary in quality between batches, quietly undermine a brand that is otherwise carefully managed.

None of this makes MITA unusual as a client. It makes the Agency demanding in the healthiest sense: clear about its identity, clear about its standards, and clear about what a supplier must demonstrate before earning a place in its pool.

Consistency is not a preference here. It is part of the job.

Where merchandise enters the picture

MITA’s merchandise requirement is not a one-off purchase for a single campaign. It runs through the calendar in two recurring strands.

Strand one

Around the year: events

The Agency takes part in a wide range of large- and small-scale events throughout the year, and regularly needs branded merchandise for distribution and for promotional use around them.

Large and small, across the whole calendar.

Strand two

Around the Agency: its people

Alongside events, MITA periodically replenishes and updates the branded items its employees use every day, ensuring each one stays aligned with the Agency’s corporate branding and identity.

The everyday line-up

  • Branded mugs
  • Biros
  • Writing pads
  • Corporate stationery

A familiar list, and exactly the kind of requirement where product choice, sampling and dependable communication decide whether a supplier earns a second order. How MITA went looking for that supplier is where the story begins.

A Swish & Click client story · European branded merchandise for organisations in Malta

SECTION 03 · THE COMPLETE STORY

Part 3 of 4

How a broader search became a first order

This is the heart of the case study: what MITA needed, what mattered to the Agency, why it chose Swish & Click, and how a carefully sampled ceramic mug became the start of something larger.

The requirement

MITA’s brief was the kind most organisations will recognise, which is precisely what makes it a useful story. The Agency needed branded merchandise for the events it takes part in throughout the year, promotional items to distribute around them, and the employee essentials that live on desks in every office: mugs, biros, writing pads and other corporate stationery.

Two things stopped it being routine. The requirement recurs, so a supplier has to perform more than once. And every item carries the Agency’s identity, so visual consistency with MITA’s corporate branding was not negotiable.

What mattered to MITA

Before any product was chosen, the ground rules were clear. The Agency looks for suppliers able to deliver dependable, high-quality products at prices that stay competitive and reasonable, and it wanted the confidence of assessing quality before committing to an order. Four priorities ran through everything:

  • Reliability

Orders that arrive as promised, every time.

  • Consistent quality

The tenth box has to match the first.

  • The right balance

Price and quality weighed together, never price alone.

  • Confidence first

Quality assessed before an order is placed, not after.

A search beyond the familiar

The route to Swish & Click began with homework. MITA conducted market research to broaden its supplier pool and to identify alternatives alongside what was already available locally: sensible procurement discipline for any organisation with recurring requirements. In that research, Swish & Click stood out, and the reasons came down to four things.

  • An extensive European range

Product choice drawn from suppliers across Europe, wider than any single catalogue.

  • Competitive pricing

Prices that respect the balance MITA looks for between cost and quality.

  • Something different

Products beyond the usual options, so the Agency’s merchandise does not look like everyone else’s.

  • Communication and samples

Prompt, informative replies, and samples readily provided on request.

Broadening a supplier pool is addition, not replacement: European choice sitting alongside what Malta already offers, so the Agency can pick the right product from a bigger table.

From sample to success, step by step

  1. Research

MITA surveys the market to widen its supplier pool, looking for quality, fair pricing and genuine choice, and finds Swish & Click.

  2. Selection

A first project takes shape: branded ceramic mugs for MITA employees, chosen from the European range to suit the Agency’s identity.

  3. Samples

Physical samples come first. Finish, feel and print quality are assessed in hand and measured against MITA’s corporate branding, so the Agency can proceed with real confidence rather than a supplier’s promise.

  4. The order

With quality confirmed, the order is placed. The communication and ordering process proves easy and highly efficient.

  5. The response

The mugs land well with the people they were made for, and the response inside the Agency clears the bar every merchandise project aims for.

The product at the centre of the first order.

The verdict inside MITA

The Agency later described the mugs as a

“massive success with our employees”

The outcome, and what followed

The first project did exactly what a first project should: it proved the relationship worked. MITA was very satisfied with the products and with the process around them, and the communication and ordering experience was described as easy and highly efficient.

Then came the strongest signal a client can send. Satisfaction with the mugs led MITA to place further orders with Swish & Click, and a single purchase grew into a working client relationship, recorded order by order in the log that follows this story.

Part 3 of 4 · The log

The relationship log

Most case studies end with a full stop. This one ends with a log that stays open: each new order MITA approves for publication is added below, so the page grows as the working relationship does.

Entries appear at the level of detail MITA approves. Where the Agency prefers to keep an order’s contents private, the log records the fact of the order and nothing more.

  • Only client-approved details
  • No invented dates or figures
  • Updated as the relationship grows

New here? Read the full story first, then come back to the log.

  1. Entry 001 Delivered

Branded ceramic mugs for MITA employees

    • Employee merchandise
    • The first order
    • Samples assessed first

Where it all started: white ceramic mugs chosen from the European range, approved through physical samples and produced in line with MITA’s corporate identity. The full story of this order is told in the chapter above; its result is the reason the rest of this log exists.

  2. Entry 002 Confirmed

    Further orders

    • Ongoing relationship
    • Details pending publication

Satisfaction with the first project led MITA to place further orders with Swish & Click. The contents of each order are published only once MITA approves the details, so for now the log records the fact and keeps the specifics private.

  3. Next

    The log stays open

New orders join this page as they are approved for publication, one entry at a time. That is the point of a relationship log: it is never quite finished.

What the log already shows

  • Broader merchandise options for a Maltese public agency
  • Samples supplied before ordering
  • Quality assessed with greater confidence
  • Prompt and informative communication
  • Easy and highly efficient ordering
  • A successful employee mug project
  • Further orders following the first outcome
  • An expanding working relationship
